Some sort of Windows is preferable. Win 95 & 98, they should work fine Win 2000 & XP don't come with DOS so you have to download OLDDOS.exe, but then they should be ok. Windows 7 users seem to have about a 70% success rate. Windows Vista : not so much! |
| DOS |
Before all the updates, it used to work on a purely DOS-based system, for example an IBM AT, X2 or PS2 would run it. These days, the speed might stuff it up. I mean, no-one's even gonna remember that PS2 ever meant that! |
| Mac / Linux |
Pretty bloomin' doubtful. I wouldn't know how it all works but I'm assuming these would hate Qooty's guts. Apparently there's such thing as Windows emulators that you can put onto an Apple/Mac, dunno if that'll help here though. I tried it via DOSBOX on a Macbook without success. |
| Memory |
Any |
Seeing as this used to run on an XT, I couldn't imagine any computer these days could be made with too little memory to run Qooty. |
| Note - |
Even though it runs on any memory, QBasic and therefore Qooty can tend to slow down other Windows applications. I'd always suggest you try not to run too many other marvels of the technological era at the same time that you are running Qooty. |

| Leagues |
A tiny league with little data may only need about 1 or 2mb, but if you're exporting to websites and keeping every stat there is, I'd be putting aside a safe maximum of 10mb per league. Add this to your 2800kb program files and you should have a good coverage of the requirement. Its not very big. I as the developer currently have a whole pile of test leagues running, and the total is 34mb. |

Qooty requires 16 colours, 256 ascii characters, and the ability to beep. If your computer doesn't have these capabilities, I'd be on the phone to the Antiques Roadshow post haste. If you have a phone. |
